United Way of Dodge County is raising funds to meet the increased community needs due to the pandemic. Donations stay right here in Dodge County to support 19 local charities. The needs in Dodge County continue to grow, and the COVID-19 pandemic brings many new challenges.
We have increased our capacity for our 24/7 2-1-1 helpline, which responds to requests for assistance. The number of calls from Dodge County residents has increased by 180 percent compared to the same time last year. People who may have never needed help before are relying on us for support.
Many of our partner agencies are seeing an increased demand for their services. The Dodge County Food Shelf is distributing more food than ever to meet the great need for food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other nonprofit partners have been financially impacted as most of their programs and income-based activities have been canceled this year. Our goal is to be a stable income source for local programs so the nonprofits can focus on people and services. We appreciate the support so far! We have raised over $14,000 this past month with our community giving drive. Our goal is to raise another $36,000 by the end of December to meet the increased ask from our local nonprofit partners. We are asking for your consideration in making a gift of $50, $200, or whatever is comfortable for you during this time.
